A native (and resident) of Orléans, Jon practiced with a local firm for 14 years prior to founding Richardson Hall LLP in 2021.
Jon practices in the areas of family law and civil litigation with a particular focus on construction law.

Reach for the Top
Jon is a tenacious advocate for his clients, unafraid to go to court when necessary but equally willing to negotiate a resolution when one can be obtained at a lower cost to his clients. Jon has conducted both family and civil trials in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and has argued appeals at the Ontario Court of Appeal.
Jon is the chairperson of the Ottawa chapter of the Lawyers Feed the Hungry program, which serves a warm meal to the clients of the Ottawa Mission on a monthly basis. To date, Ottawa Lawyers Feed the Hungry has served over 70,000 meals to Ottawa’s neediest residents, raising over $250,000.00 in the process.
For his work with Lawyers Feed the Hungry, Jon was the 2017 recipient of the Gordon F. Henderson Award, given by the Carleton County Law Association to an Ottawa lawyer who has made a significant contribution to the welfare of the community by performing charitable services on behalf of the community.
Jon is a past Director of the Ontario Bar Association and past chair of the Ontario Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division – East. He has been a member of the OBA’s Family Law Section Executive and is currently an elected member of the Governing Council of the Ontario Bar Association.
Jon is a frequent speaker at continuing legal education events for both family law and civil litigation and has twice chaired “How to Do a Family Trial”, a weekend event allowing lawyers to improve their trial advocacy skills.
